In the 14th tournament of the 3rd seasonโs league, 26 players from 10 countries participated. 3 new players: atingastephen ๐ฌ๐ญ, desmond22 ๐ฌ๐ญ & mustajaaba ๐ฌ๐ญ participated in this league for the first time. Taking the total number of players to 65. Featured in the top 10 players from Afrika - 7, from Asia - 1, and from Europe - 2.
abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ won the tournament for the first time this season with a 6.5 points score, drawing with roberisco ๐ฌ๐ญ in another tough tournament well done to him ๐๐๐. issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 2nd with 5.5 points, losing a game to abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ & drawing with mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ. mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ placed 3rd also with 5.5 points, losing a game to abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ & drawing a game with issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ.ย tindan ๐ฌ๐ญ & roberisco ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 4th and 5th respectively. Well done to them & everyone else who participated ๐๐๐.
We applaud the 2 female players tnt9 ๐ฐ๐ฌ & vivian256 ๐บ๐ฌ for participating in this tournament. Well done also to the single junior player: dalton1 ๐บ๐ฌ for ย representing team Uganda. In this edition the top 3 positions were occupied by players from two countries: Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ & Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ well done to them ๐๐๐.
Overall leader the Oga Ota of Nigeriaโs ๐ณ๐ฌ mrjohnsonโs winning streak took a knock last week. Even though he placed 3rd he remains in the lead with 11 wins out of 14 and 86.5 points. abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ joins ayoboss ๐ง๐ฏ & roberisco ๐ฌ๐ญ with 1 title a piece to their credit and joins them on the roll call of winners. The overall difference between top four players remains more or less the same at 14.5, 29.5 & 32 points respectively.
In his absence Asian Champion serkiaktayev ๐ฐ๐ฟ continues to drop down the rankings and is some 68.0 points behind the leader. His team mate e17 ๐ฐ๐ฟ has pulled away from him and is 32.0 points away from mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ. The European champion monkftw ๐ฌ๐ง with 42.0 points is still in 10th position with paulie42 ๐จ๐ฟ moving ahead with 44.5 points. American Continental champion daallo ๐ฒ๐ฝ with 30.5 points is some 56.0 points off. We continue to observe if they or other players from their continent can make up the difference.
New players are joining the league as evidenced by the last tournament. These however are not coming from countries that have not participated in the league before. Will there be new players including master & grandmasters joining the league to add more dynamism to it. Time will tell, as the players from Antigua & Barbuda ๐ฆ๐ฌ, Barbados ๐ง๐ง, Burkina Faso ๐ง๐ซ, Cape Verde ๐จ๐ป, Gambia, Guinea ๐ฌ๐ณ, Guinea Bissau ๐ฌ๐ผ Ivory Coast ๐จ๐ฎ, Mali ๐ฒ๐ฑ, Niger ๐ณ๐ช, Sierra Leone ๐ธ๐ฑ, Saint Lucia ๐ฑ๐จ, Togo ๐น๐ฌ are yet to enter the fray. Players from 18 countries that participated in last yearโs league are yet to participate in this edition of the league. Do well to recruit other players to participate in the upcoming practice tournaments in preparation for the championships to come.
Please take note, the top positioned players who are International or Full members of The Oware Society before the league ends, will be awarded cash prizes. Therefore If you place in the top 3, and wish to be considered for a cash award, join The Oware Society before the league ends. The top placed, International or Full members in the female, junior & continental categories will be awarded cash prizes so long as they are Full or International members and enough funds are raised. If enough funds are raised we will consider awarding prizes for country winners, so long as the country is represented by 5 or more players, is not in the top three or a continental champion.
